R. Gary Spencer opened his private law practice in April of 1997 after practicing for 12 years with the Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office, the Fulton County Public Defender's Office, and the Federal Defender Program for the Northern District of Georgia, Inc. Mr. Spencer also served as a part-time judge for the City of Atlanta Municipal Court from 1999-2003.
His private practice continued his commitment to representing individuals in state and federal criminal trials and appeals as well as in personal injury matters. Mr. Spencer has participated in more than 150 jury trials. This experience has created a network of attorneys and investigators that are available to assist R. Gary Spencer, P.C., with providing personal and professional representation to every client. The firm recently expanded its practice to include probate litigation.
Mr. Spencer is an active member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. He is a member of the Diaconate of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, and a member at large on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Glenn-Mor Nursing Home of Thomasville, Georgia. He served as President of the Gate City Bar Association in 2003.
