Professional Malpractice Lawyers
Once you have received a letter from the State Bar, you have 30 days to respond. You can request more time, but it is vital to deal with the issue quickly and aggressively. Failure to respond will lead to further difficulties down the road. In many cases, a comprehensive response to the initial complaint can resolve the issue. We can help you craft a skillful response to address the issues that often trigger attorney discipline with the Bar. If the Bar requests further information, we will work with you to bring the matter to a close.
There are four levels of discipline used by the State Bar to address complaints against attorneys. We may recommend working directly with the client who lodged the complaint to resolve the issue at that level. The nature of the complaint will determine the best course of action in your case. Missed deadlines, complaints regarding communication or the quality of service provided, trust account violations and mishandling of funds are common issues that can give rise to disciplinary actions. We will work with you to develop a strategy to fit your needs.
